Another great musician has exited the planet.Louis Johnson

Louis “Thunder-Thumbs[ref]NxtBook[/ref]” Johnson, half of the Brothers Johnson departed at the age of 60.

The cause of his death was not revealed[ref]11 Alive[/ref].

If you are unfamiliar with The Brothers Johnson, check out this performance on Don Kirshner’s classic television series:

After the group disbanded, Thunder-Thumbs went on to play for the greatest acts in music, including (but not limited to):

  • Michael Jackson
  • Aretha Franklin
  • Stevie Wonder
  • Paul McCartney
  • Donna Summer
  • George Duke
  • Chaka Khan
  • Michael McDonald
  • Herb Alpert
  • Quincy Jones
  • Peggy Lee
  • Phil Collins
  • George Benson
  • Andraé Crouch
  • Billy Preston
  • Björk
  • Deniece Williams

But, one of my favorite projects that Thunder-Thumbs did was a Christian recording called Passage. Most church choirs could not get away with this level of funk. Not familiar with it? Take a listen:

More information on Johnson, including links to many of his songs, are compiled on Google. We also recommend checking out Rolling Stone’s Tribute to Louis Johnson.
