Billy Ray Hearn was the father of CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). He was the genius behind record labels Myrrh, Sparrow, and the Capitol Christian Music Group, the largest Christian music label on the planet[ref]Encyclopedia of American Gospel Music[/ref].
Billy Ray Hearn exited the planet at 85 after suffering complications from heart disease[ref]The Tennessean[/ref].
Hearn graduated from Baylor University in 1954 with a degree in Church Music[ref]Wikipedia[/ref]. He served in the U.S. Navy and ultimately formed the infrastructure behind of Christian Music legends such as Amy Grant, Keith Green, Steve Green, Phil Keaggy, Steve Camp, White Heart… the list goes on and on.
Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1997[ref]GMA Hall of Fame[/ref], Hearn will be mourned by his family, friends, colleagues, and fans of Christian Music worldwide.
