R.I.P. Roger Ebert

After 70 years, film critic Roger Ebert has exited the planet.Roger Ebert We read on the CNN Web Site that only two days before his demise he had learned that the disease that took away his ability to vocalize had returned with a vengeance.

Ebert leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Chaz Ebert, stepchildren Sonia and Jay, and grandchildren Raven, Emil, Mark and Joseph. Besides his illustrious 46-year career as a film critic, Ebert referred to his grandchildren as “the best things in my life.”

We were getting ready to go home today for hospice care, when he looked at us, smiled, and passed away. No struggle, no pain, just a quiet, dignified transition…
