Hasbro’s Next Tentpole Franchise?

Given the success of Michael Bay’s work on the Transformers series… and Stephen Sommers work with G.I. Joe, what Hasbro cartoon will be next to transform into a major motion picture franchise?

May we propose our idea?Jem and The Holograms

It would seem a good time to resurrect the 1980’s animated series Jem and the Holograms.

Don’t remember that hidden gem (pun intended)?

Here is a brain tickler:

In a 2009 interview, series creator Christy Mark stated:

I would like to see that happen. I don’t want to go into a lot of detail, but the whole rights situation for Jem is very, very complicated. Believe me, if there were a simple straightforward way to do it, it would be done. But there are some very big complications that are in the way at the moment.

An article on Panjiba also included cogitations on a Jem movie. Granted, a lot of its prognostications were off the mark (and, in hindsight, the viewing public sank Hasbro’s Battleship. Still, with the right casting… who knows?

Amanda SeyfriedGranted, such a film would feature roughly eight singer/actresses with stage presence. Now begs the question, who would be cast as Jem… the Holograms… the Misfits?

I will start out the speculation by suggesting Amanda Seyfried for the lead role.
